Frequently asked questions
- Which devices are supported?
- iPad with iPadOS 17 or later, in landscape. The Mac version is in development and requires macOS 14 or later.
- How do I use Asimut as an AUv3 in a host app?
- Install Asimut and open the app once. Then add an Audio Unit instrument in your host and choose “VAAG Fabrikat: Asimut”. The whole instrument runs inside the host and takes its MIDI from there.
- How do I connect a MIDI keyboard or controller?
- Over USB it works straight away: Asimut listens to every MIDI source on every channel. For Bluetooth, tap the MIDI menu in the header, choose Bluetooth MIDI… and pair the device there. On a Mac, pair Bluetooth devices in the system settings. To move Asimut’s controls with the knobs on your controller, tap … in the top right corner and choose Settings… → MIDI learn.
- Can Asimut keep playing when the screen is locked?
- Yes, on iPad. While Asimut is playing, notes are held or a MIDI keyboard is connected, the sound keeps going when you switch apps or lock the screen. Otherwise Asimut stops, to save battery. Turn it off under Settings… → Play in background. On a Mac, Asimut keeps playing when its window is behind others. As an AUv3, Asimut follows the host.
- How do I use my own samples?
- Tap the source button under SOURCE in the bottom left corner and choose Import file…. The file picker opens, and you can choose a WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A or FLAC file up to three minutes long. In the SOURCE tab of the inspector, load a second source into SLOT B and blend the two with MORPH.
- Where do my recordings go?
- On iPad, to the Files app, under On My iPad → Asimut → Recordings. Recordings are stored only on your device. Share them from there or from the export panel in the app.
- Does Asimut collect data about me?
- No. Asimut has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and the app does not use the internet. Read more in the privacy policy.
